The grant award is the highest single grant awarded since the fund came into existence in 2017 and will allow the schools collective to purchase 2 minibuses to support a variety of school activities.

The schools support over 3,000 pupils of which over 100 children with Special needs including some with mobility challenges. The schools will be able to use the minibuses to enhance the children’s wider curricular experience and life experiences. Examples of the planned trips include fieldwork projects, class trips and sporting activities.

As part of the funding arrangement, the schools partnership have agreed to make the minibuses available to other community groups when they are not being used by the school network.

Andrew Jones, Chair of the Marshes Community Benefit Fund, said

“The panel were delighted to provide a significant grant to the School Partnership to support all of the local schools with additional vehicles. The vehicles allow the schools to reduce their current transport costs with 3rd party providers and ensure that they continue to provide a wide range of activities to over 3,000 students. The panel were impressed with the strategy shown by the schools to work together on a joint bid to maximise the benefits from the grant provided”.

The Marshes Community Benefit Fund provides funding to local Community groups, charities, schools, businesses and clubs to support not-for-profit projects designed to benefit the local communities.
