The long awaited walkway from the A56 Chester Road in Helsby through to Hornsmill pre-school/school was officially opened yesterday by Head, Sharon Wyatt, and pre-school leader, Sue Huntbach
Helsby running club’s, Jackie Keasley, welcomed the new path which is ready just in time for their annual 4 Villages Half Marathon taking place on Sunday. Providing a safe and short-cut route, the path is already reducing vehicle traffic in the local residential areas and in Primrose Lane with many families now being able to walk safely to school.
Half marathon runners will take the path as part of popular community race. The path way was part-funded by the Helsby Running Club and Hornsmill school/pre-school fundraisers, governors, CWAC and local Council donations, as well as an award from the Marshes Community Benefit Fund of £20,000.
