The Marshes Community Benefit Fund are delighted to award a grant of £31,000 to Knoll Surgery Patient Participation Group

The Knoll Surgery Patient Participation Group

The funding will allow the Group to create a new patients’ lounge through the re-imagining of the former Rock Surgery reception area. The project will transform the existing space into a welcoming, comfortable and accessible environment for patients and visitors to the surgery.

The Knoll Surgery Patient Participation Group (KSPPG) is made up of local people who are all registered patients of the Practice. The Group works collaboratively with the Surgery to improve services and facilities for patients by acting as the ‘patient voice’.

The new patients’ lounge will provide improved seating, enhanced facilities and a calm and supportive atmosphere for those waiting for appointments or seeking information and support. The redesigned space will include comfortable and accessible seating and lighting to promote a relaxing and quiet environment for all users. The space will also include digital display screens and resource points for patient information, local notices, and learning opportunities. Plans also include the creation of a smaller, more private and reflective area for confidential one-to-one conversations.

Knoll Surgery currently serves more than 17,000 registered patients and on particularly busy days the Practice can welcome between 500 and 600 local people through its doors. The redevelopment will help create a more inclusive, welcoming and informative environment that supports patient wellbeing and improves the overall experience for the many members of the community who rely on the Practice and its services.

Andrew Jones, Chair of the Marshes Community Benefit Fund, said

“The panel were delighted to support the Knoll Surgery Patient Participation Group and their vision of turning the former Rock Surgery reception area into a welcoming and accessible space. This sort of environment is crucial in ensuring people can access the right help and information from clearly signposted areas.”
