The Marshes Community Benefit Fund are delighted to award a grant of £6,965 to Helsby Methodist Church

The funding will allow the Church to install solar panels alongside battery storage systems. This will reduce energy costs and support the long-term sustainability of its services and community activities.
Alongside its Sunday services, Helsby Methodist Church provides a wide range of valuable community initiatives. These include partnerships with organisations such as the Warm Welcome Campaign, Welcome Spaces network and West Cheshire Food Bank. The church currently faces extremely high energy costs, which are placing increasing pressure on its ability to continue delivering these important services.

Upon hearing about their successful application a spokesperson for the Church said
“For many years, Helsby Methodist Church has been active in the local community providing child support, adult signposting, a food bank, and a warm and safe space. Largely this has been funded by the church members, but with energy costs getting ever higher we are struggling to meet the bills. The generous grant provided by the Marshes Community Benefit Fund allows the church to install solar panels and storage batteries which will greatly reduce our electricity bills. This will allow the church to stay in the community for many years to come and will help us on our path towards being carbon neutral”
The energy savings achieved through this project will help the Church continue and expand its valuable community work, ensuring that Helsby Methodist Church remains an important and welcoming hub for local residents and community organisations.

Emily Edwards, a member of the Marshes Community Benefit Fund, said
“The panel are grateful for this opportunity to reduce the financial burden on Helsby Methodist Church. The church is a focal point for community activities and as such this funding will benefit many”.
