The Marshes Community Benefit fund are delighted to award a grant of £1,122 to Frodsham and Halton Harriers
The grant will fund the redevelopment of the clubs Long Jump pit in Castle Park. This will help retain the clubs membership numbers and create opportunities for coaches and young leaders to receive training on how to technically teach long jump.
Currently the pit is unusable as it is covered in grass and the sand contains debris. The grant will allow the purchase of a cover to maintain the quality of the pit for young athletes.
Halton and Frodsham Harriers provide the opportunity for local children to take part in a sport that contributes to a healthy physical and mental lifestyle. Athletics provides many basic skills that are transferable to other sports such as football and provides opportunity for children who do not thrive at team sports.
They provide quality instructional and competitive athletic experiences while fostering the long term social development of their members. They aim to provide fundamental skills (running, jumping, throwing) to all athletes who attend training sessions. They aim to build athletes confidence and independence within the field of athletics and develop life long skills.
As elected parish councillors we seek to meet the needs of our local community to the extent that we are able to.
